‘KELIM’ CHOREOGRAPHY CENTER

The Kelim Choreography Center is a place for thought, experimentation, initiation and choreographic practice. Kelim is driven by the desire to develop the connections between artists, creations, audiences and communities with the notion that choreography is a practice that spans many fields and disciplines beyond dance.

Kelim promotes and encourages creation and research based on contemporary choreographic theory and practices. Kelim fosters artists from a deep commitment to the development of high quality artistic ideas and new frameworks for thought. Kelim’s agenda addresses the personal, human and political aspects that are manifested in the body.

Kelim was born  in 2009 from the meeting of Anat Danieli, Tal Gravinsky and several young choreographers who worked together with the desire to teach, research and create within and from ongoing dialogue. This work resulted in the establishment of the Two-Year Choreography Program, which was followed by the founding of a new center in Bat Yam in a space, which previously housed a military warehouse. Today, the center hosts the Residency Program, various festivals and performances, international collaborations, community projects and more.

The Kelim Choreography Center was established based on listening, collaboration with and response to choreographers and the act of choreography and functions according to the principles on which it was founded.
